RENEWING CAR REGISTRATION RTA - A SHORT GUIDE

Is it time to renew your automobile registration? Driving a car with an expired registration can result in penalties, points, and the vehicle being confiscated.

If your car's registration is up for renewal, it's best not to put it off because late payments can result in fines. Since the purchase of vehicle insurance in Dubai, the renewal of their car registration, and other automobile-related services have been simpler, car owners in Dubai have experienced a great deal of relief and have been able to breathe more easily.

The methods to renew your car registration without problem are outlined here.

Pay Off Your Fines

First and foremost, you should take care of any outstanding traffic tickets. You may easily accomplish this by going to the RTA website or installing the RTA Dubai app from the app store on your phone.

Get a Vehicle Inspection

Vehicles under the age of three years are not obliged to be tested; nevertheless, if your vehicle does not fall into this category, you can have it tested at any of the RTA-assigned testing facilities located across the city. There is a charge for the testing that must be paid.

You may expect the formalities to take around 30 minutes to complete.

When you pass the exam, the results are immediately submitted to the RTA database, and you can continue your vehicle registration online.

If you're short on time, call the testing businesses to inquire about their premium-priced services, which include car collection, testing, and return.

Online Car Registration Renewal

You can do so by going to the RTA's online website or downloading and using the RTA Dubai mobile app. To proceed with your application, you will need to provide documentation of your Dubai auto insurance as well as your UAE residency. After that, you must search for and select your automobile, as well as pay the service charge.

You will receive a digital copy of your registration card (e-registration card) in your email after you have successfully renewed. You should keep a duplicate of this e-registration card with you at all times, along with your vehicle insurance in Dubai, especially if you are going outside of the UAE.

Plastic registration cards will be phased out.

With the advent of digitization in today's world, it's time to wave goodbye to your annual registration cards made of plastic, which you had to go to the trouble of obtaining each year. The RTA has replaced these plastic cards with e-registration cards that have a lifetime validity under the 'My Vehicle' project. Yes, you read that correctly. Unlike the plastic cards before, this digital proof of car registration will not expire.

Please note, however, that you will still need to renew your Dubai auto registration every year and take your vehicle to RTA service centers for testing.

Being caught while driving a car with an expired registration, it's a big deal.

After your car registration has expired, you have a 30-day grace period to renew it. If you want to avoid any penalties, make sure you renew your automobile registration before the grace period finishes.

If you are caught with an expired registration, you will be fined heavily, and if the registration has been expired for more than three months, your automobile will be impounded for seven days.

Also, when it comes to fines, do not drive your car on the roads unless you have car insurance in Dubai, as it is required by law. If you do not have car insurance in Dubai, you will face severe penalties.
